Barcelona’s Pedri Reveals Advice He’s Received from Lewandowski

Getty Robert Lewandowski celebrates scoring for Barcelona. Barcelona midfielder Pedri has opened up on the advice he’s received from striker Robert Lewandowski following the striker’s arrival at the club in the summer from Bayern Munich. Lewandowski has been a huge hit with the Catalan giants and has already scored 17 goals in just 15 games for Xavi’s side. Pedri has told Marca that the Poland international has also been quick to offer guidance to the club’s younger players. “It’s easy to get along with good players on the pitch and Robert, from the first day, has been a magnificent person with me. Despite not knowing the language, he has integrated very quickly. He helps us youngsters a lot, he gives us advice,” he said. “He helps me and Gavi, who are getting more involved, and he tells us to play in space, to be there, that he will get there, that he will take the centre-backs and keep the balls there for us, to score. Having a player like that helps us a lot.” Lewandowski faces hi

Traits that made Cristiano Ronaldo great now hasten his painful decline

Cristiano Ronaldo trained alone on Friday. In a way it was the perfect image: a footballer who perhaps more than any other embodies the trope of the individual superstar, the idea that one man can do it on his own, doing it on his own. The television cameras were there to film his arrival and they were there a few hours later to film Erik ten Hag as he weathered a squall of Cristiano-related questions. The soap opera continues. But for now the football career is on hold. Ronaldo will not feature for Manchester United against Chelsea on Saturday afternoon. He has been suspended for storming down the tunnel after refusing to come on as a substitute against Tottenham on Wednesday. The word is that United will again try to move him on in the January transfer window, and may even pay him to leave. Perhaps we should have known that this was how it would end from the moment Ronaldo returned last autumn in a blizzard of ticker-tape and social media numbers. But nobody involved – not United, an

Real Madrid vs Barcelona LIVE: Result, final score, and reaction after Federico Valverde settles El Clasico

The first Clasico of the season has arrived, with Real Madrid set to host rivals Barcelona at the Bernabeu this afternoon in a top-of-the-table clash. Barcelona and Real Madrid both enter this highly-anticipated fixture unbeaten in La Liga, each side on 22 points but first-placed Barca ahead of second-placed Real on goal difference. The hosts’ last league outing was a 1-0 away win over Getafe, before they required an injury-time goal from defender Antonio Rudiger to rescue a 1-1 draw at Shakhtar Donetsk in the Champions League group stage on Tuesday (11 October). Although it was an uninspiring result for Carlo Ancelotti’s side, they are still on track to qualify top of their group in their defence of their European title, while they are also out to retain the tropgy in La Liga. Meanwhile, Barca – under the guidance of former club captain Xavi – saw off Celta Vigo 1-0 in the league last weekend before snatching a last-gasp 3-3 draw with Inter Milan in the Champions League on Tuesday, le
